Bridge repairs slow I-77 in Rock Hill

Repairs of a bridge over Celanese Road are slowing traffic Thursday afternoon in northbound Interstate 77 in Rock Hill, according to the S.C. Department of Transportation.

Two lanes of I-77 are closed, while crews work to make repairs. A small hole was discovered earlier this week, and DOT crews made temporary repairs. They closed the lanes after the morning commute Thursday to make more significant repairs.

WSOC-TV reported Thursday afternoon that crews found some structural problems with the bridge. The span was built in the early 1970s.

The DOT’s cameras showed traffic moving slowly in the area. Motorists should expect delays for the rest of the afternoon.
