Celebrate America under the stars with the Cornelius PARC Department and the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra at the first free outdoor summer pops concert of the season.The concert will be June 29 at the bandstand in Bailey Road Park. Gates will open at 6 p.m. At 7 p.m. the Chad Lawson Trio will perform, and the symphony will follow at 8:15 p.m. Stay after the music for the fireworks show.Bring your picnic basket and blanket or lawn chair. Preservation Commission openingThe town of Cornelius is accepting applications to fill a vacant seat on the Historic Preservation Commission. The commission helps preserve the historical, cultural and architectural heritage of Cornelius. Meetings are at 5:30 p.m. the fourth Thursday of each month. Applicants must be residents of Cornelius. The town’s Board of Commissioners will appoint someone to serve out the unexpired term. The term will expire in February.
