A 14-year-old student at Mooresville Middle School was detained after threatening to kill the president during a visit to the school last week.

Police haven’t released the name of the boy because he is a juvenile. But Mooresville Police Capt. Joseph Cooke said he was charged with communicating threats for a tweet that said he would shoot President Barack Obama if he saw him at the school.

Obama visited the school last week to unveil a plan to connect nearly every U.S. classroom to high-speed broadband and wireless Internet over the next five years. He met with eighth-graders and gave a speech in the school’s gymnasium.

Cooke said the teen was detained at a juvenile facility during the president’s visit, but has since been released.
