The others are Maria Simmons Ballard, Mill Creek Middle School; Kimberly Blair-Jordan, Jacobs Fork Middle School; and Mitzi Yount Story, Webb A. Murray Elementary School.All four will assume their new assignments July 1.Westmoreland will move to Sherrills Ford Elementary from Bandys High School, where he had been an assistant principal the past two school years. He had also been the school’s athletics director in the past.Westmoreland earned his bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory and began his teaching career at Claremont Elementary School. There he taught kindergarten, fifth- and sixth-grade classes.Westmoreland then earned a master’s degree in school administration from Appalachian State University.“Westmoreland’s knowledge of elementary curriculum, coupled with his familiarity of the Sherrills Ford community, will serve him well in his new assignment. His ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders will ensure open communication between school and home,” Catawba County Schools Superintendent Dan Brigman said in a prepared statement.
