Statesville police are searching for a man they’ve identified as a suspect in a Tuesday bank robbery, who they say may have robbed the same bank twice.

Rashime Omar Gardner of Statesville is accused of robbing the Community One Bank in the 1800 block of East Broad Street about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigators say Gardner jumped over the counter and took money from a cash drawer. He then ran off and was last seen running behind a nearby Papa John’s Pizza restaurant, police say.

Police say Gardner is also the suspect in the May 22 robbery of the same bank. He’s charged with two counts of common law robbery.

Anyone with information about Gardner’s whereabouts should call the Statesville Police Department at 704-878-3406 or Iredell Crime Stoppers at 704-662-1340.
