First Team

100-meter dash: Trentavis Friday, Cherryville, Jr.: 1A state champion set state record with time of 10.48.

200-meter dash: Cameron Stinson, Hickory, Sr.: 2A state runner-up in three events (100, 200, long jump) had area’s best time of 21.28 in 200 at Taco Bell Classic.

400-meter dash: Trentavis Friday, Cherryville, Jr.: 1A state champion broke his state record with time of 48.00.

800-meter run: Christian White, Charlotte Latin, Jr.: NCISAA 3A champion also had area’s top time (1:53.41).

1,600-meter run: Wyatt Maxey, Providence, Jr.: Panthers’ standout was third at 4A state meet with area-best 4:17.33.

3,200-meter run: Ben Huffman, Providence Day, Jr.: NCISAA 3A runner-up had best area time of 9:18.32 in the Arcadia Invitational in California.

110-meter hurdles: Jerome Beatty, Vance, Sr.: Cougars’ standout had area-best 14.40 to win 4A West Regional title.

300-meter hurdles: Erin Jenkins, Vance, Sr.: 4A state runner-up ran personal-record, area-best 37.82 ... N.C. State signee.

4 x 100-meter relay: Mallard Creek (Cam Mattison, Vernon Grier, Quashawn Cunningham, Brian Walker) – 4A state runner-up with Observer-best time of 42.05.

4 x 200-meter relay: Mallard Creek (Cam Mattison, Vernon Grier, Quashawn Cunningham, Brian Walker) – 4A state champions ran Observer area-best 1:26.81.

4 x 400-meter relay: Mallard Creek (Vernon Grier, JoJo Kilumbu, Isaiah Williams, Brian Walker) – Maverick quartet finished thid at state meet with best time of 3:20.55.

4 x 800-meter relay: Rock Hill Northwestern (Christian Acker, Anthony Dean, Chad Fennell, Chris Gossett) – Trojans’ relay was third at state meet with Observer-best 7:51.07.

Long jump: Cameron Stinson, Hickory, Sr. – 3A state champion had area’s best jump of 23-4.5 at Taco Bell Classic.

Triple jump: Terrance Morris, Chester, Sr. – S.C. 3A champion jumped an area-best 46-6.

High jump: Elijah Edwards, Garinger, Sr. – 4A state runner-up had an Observer-best jump of 6-8 to win 4A Western Regional title.

Pole vault: Isaiah Henderson, Maiden, Jr. – 2A state runner-up had area’s best vault of 14-0.

Discus: Marcus Abraham, Metrolina Christian, So. – NCISAA champion had area-best 157-02 throw.

Shot put: Myquon Stout, Carson, Jr. – Was third at 3A state championships, but threw area-best 58-9 at Rowan County Championships.
