The captains and crew of Luxury Yacht Charters’ charter boats spent the day on Lake Norman last month conducting the company’s man-overboard drills.The training sessions – held May 21 aboard the company’s 90-foot yacht Ragin’ Mistress – are required annually by the Cornelius-based charter firm “in order to be sure the captains and crew members, including bartenders, are familiar with the procedure in case a customer or party member happens to accidentally fall overboard during a cruise,” a statement from the company said.The man-overboard training began with classroom sessions outlining proper procedures in case of someone falling overboard. The captains and crews then moved on to practice sessions, with volunteers serving as overboard victims.IcyWakes offers wakeboard campsIcyWakes Surf Shop in Cornelius has scheduled youth wakeboard camps for June and July, offering instruction for beginning to advanced wakeboarders. Instructors at both camps will be members of IcyWakes’ pro wakeboarding teams. Both camps will be offered in morning and afternoon sessions.Five-day camps will be June 17-21, July 15-19 and July 22-26. The morning-session camps go from 9 a.m. to noon and the afternoon camps 1-4 p.m. at a cost of $375.
