A man lost control of his dump truck on Lancaster Highway Tuesday afternoon, killing the truck’s driver and sending two others to the hospital.

Police identified the dead man as Stephen Timothy Braswell. Jolundra Anderson and Shamiya Crudup, both 31, also were injured. They were taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say Braswell lost control of the truck and ran off the road. He overcorrected and struck Anderson’s Honda Pilot. Crudup crashed her Jeep Liberty while trying to avoid that wreck.

Police say alcohol use may have been a factor in the crash, but Det. Steve Williams, who is investigating the crash, said officers found alcohol containers at the crash site, but declined to say who he believe was drinking until toxicology reports come back.
