More showers, thunderstorms expected across Charlotte region today

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue across the Charlotte region this afternoon and evening, as temperatures approach 90 degrees and some areas experience bouts of particularly heavy rain and even some large hail and damaging wind.

The chance for precipitation stands at 40 percent this afternoon and 30 percent tonight, according to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, S.C..

And the region can expect more of the same showers and cloud-to-ground lightning into the weekend and beyond.

If it’s any consolation, temperatures will begin to drop a few degrees, with a high of 86 degrees forecast for Saturday and 83 degrees on Sunday and Monday.
