Myrtle Beach fires up plenty of extra spirit for pyrotechnics for Fourth of July festivities. Here are five places to find fireworks shows.
Murrells Inlet, S.C.
On the Fourth of July, look for the community’s annual fireworks at 10 p.m. from Veterans Pier, on the south end of the Marsh Walk, on U.S. 17 Business.
Start the day at Murrells Inlet’s annual Fourth of July Boat Parade. It begins at 5 p.m. on the ocean shoreline from Garden City Point, sailing southward past the Marsh Walk to Morse Park Landing, near the Hot Fish Club and Marlin Quay Marina.
Besides Independence Day, fireworks also happen at 9 p.m. on Mondays, July 8, 15 and 22, and through the rest of summer.
At Barefoot Landing, on U.S. 17 in North Myrtle Beach, fireworks fly over its lake at 10:15 p.m. every Monday through August, as well as the Fourth of July, as part of its annual SummerFest of events spread across each week.
Broadway at the Beach
Broadway at the Beach, the giant retail, food and entertainment site bordered by U.S. 17 Bypass, Grissom Parkway and 21st and 29th avenues North in Myrtle Beach, has gone into full summer mode with twice-weekly fireworks over its lake, all at 10 p.m.:
• Tuesdays, through August.
• Fourth of July.
• Fridays through Aug. 16 (but not July 5).
Second Avenue Pier
As part of “Hot Summer Nights,” the Oceanfront Merchants Association serves up fireworks over the ocean at 10 p.m. Wednesdays through August – plus on the Fourth of July and on Aug. 31 – from Second Avenue (North) Pier in Myrtle Beach.
Tuesday and on the Fourth, catch concerts 8-11 p.m. at Myrtle Beach’s Plyler Park, at North Ocean Boulevard and Mr. Joe White Avenue by the Austin Mowery Band, with country music (Tuesday) and the Reggie Sullivan Band, playing rock and soul (Thursday).
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Advanced-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, in their 15th season of play and third as part of the Texas Rangers’ developmental system, have nights that’ll close with post-game fireworks.
This Carolina League team has two fireworks events in the next week:
• 6:05 p.m. Monday, series closer against the Lynchburg Hillcats, an Atlanta Braves farm club from Virginia; also, bring balls and gloves for pre-game catch on the field for the public, one hour before first pitch.
• 7:05 p.m. Wednesday, homestand finale against the Salem Red Sox, a Boston affiliate from Virginia
Other dates booked, weather permitting, are: 6:05 p.m. July 14, Aug. 4 and 18, and Sept. 1-2; 7:05 p.m. July 18; and Aug. 8 and 22
All home games are at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark, 1251 21st Ave. N., Myrtle Beach, at Grissom Parkway. Advance tickets (for which the cost rises $1 on game days) are $6-$13. Details: www.myrtlebeachpelicans.com.
