Charlotte’s Carmel Middle wins 3rd Odyssey of Mind title

Carmel Middle School won its third straight world championship trophy in the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals at Michigan State University, which included 827 teams from 13 countries.

Odyssey of the Mind judges students on their creativity at competitions on the local, state and international level. Teams are judged on tasks such as performing skits, building objects and solving problems.

The team of seven sixth-graders has competed together since they were in third grade at Beverly Woods Elementary. Some of them have known each other since preschool.

Three teams from Myers Park and one team from Community House Middle also finished in the top 10.
