Closures planned along Elizabeth Ave., Trade St.

Charlotte transportation officials say work related to the streetcar project will force closures along Trade Street and Elizabeth Avenue.

Motorists can expect congestion and delays in the area. Here is the schedule:

• Through Wednesday:

Westbound lanes of East Trade closed between South Brevard and College streets. Storm drain installation is scheduled. Westbound traffic can detour on South Brevard, East Fourth and South College streets.

Eastbound traffic is not affected.

Also, Elizabeth Avenue is closed between North Kings Drive and North McDowell Street, for work on the overhead streetcar contact lines.

And East Trade Street is closed between Davidson and McDowell streets for conduit installation and utility relocation.

• Thursday-Sunday:

Trade Street and Elizabeth Avenue will be open in each direction from Kings Drive to College Street.

• July 8-15:

Elizabeth Avenue is closed between North Kings Drive and North McDowell Street, for the overhead work.

East Trade Street is closed between Davidson and McDowell streets for conduit installation and utility relocation.

• July 12-15:

East Trade Street will be closed between Brevard and College streets for storm drain installation.
