Up & Coming: Unknown Brewing

Rachel discovered her love of food at a young age - cooking with her mother and finding joy in preparing food for others. Rachel worked in restaurant public relations in New York City before moving to Charlotte in September 2011. These days she's nurturing her own passion for local fare as Charlotte's food culture grows.
Construction started today at 1327 S. Mint St, on the heels of the new urban zoning policy that passed last month enabling craft-brew veteran Brad Shell to get a jump on his goal to open Unknown Brewing in SouthEnd this fall. The brewery will be a humongous 22,500 sq ft space complete with a 30-barrell system for widespread distribution and a glass-enclosed taproom in the front for guests. Brad hopes to have the taproom up and running with approximately 12 taps by the late summer/early fall. I was lucky enough to attend the private get-together Brad hosted on Saturday to celebrate the groundbreaking and snapped a few photos of what the raw space currently looks like. I cannot wait to see how they transform this awesome space!
Stay tuned for construction updates and beer releases from Unknown over the coming months. Visit www.unkownbrewing.com to stay connected.
