The owner of the now-closed Club Vox is barred from ever reopening the nightclub at its current Wilkinson Boulevard location, according to court documents filed Monday.
Curtis Leak operated the club, which was troubled with violence.
Leak acknowledged in 2010 that his business was a public nuisance and signed an agreement with the city in order to keep it open.
He agreed to follow a stringent security plan, including hiring armed company police to work in the parking lots, requiring that patrons be members, banning profanity and searching all vehicles.
But in April, the city of Charlotte filed a motion against Leak, saying that he had not honored the agreement.
A judge on Monday found that Leak had violated the 2010 agreement.
The judge also found Leak in contempt and ordered him to spend 10 days behind bars. That sentence will be suspended on the condition that he and his wife surrender all alcohol permits. He and his wife also must not operate a business that requires any type of alcohol, beer or wine permits in Mecklenburg County for a year.
