2 Charlotte firefighters suffer minor injuries

Two Charlotte firefighters suffered minor injuries Tuesday morning while battling an apartment fire on the north side of the city.

Charlotte fire Capt. Mark Basnight said the crew members had injuries described as non-life-threatening.

They were dealing with a fire that was reported about 6:45 a.m. at an apartment building in the 2100 block of Prospect Drive. That is off Tom Hunter Road, near Interstate 85.

Basnight said first-responders saw heavy smoke coming from the building. It took a crew of 27 firefighters about 15 minutes to bring the blaze under control.

There were no reports of injuries among the residents.
