Gaston man faces child sex charges

GASTONIA – A Bessemer City man has been charged by Gastonia police of having sex with a minor, authorities say.

David Glenn Scott, 51, was arrested this week and charged with two counts of first-degree sex offense and six counts of indecent liberties with a child. Gastonia police Sgt. Gene Weaver said the alleged offenses took place between Feb. 1 and June 20 at Bradley Center Park on Modena Street.

“Scott knew the girl from church and was trusted,” Weaver said. “He was cooperative with the investigation.”

Police say there are no other reported victims, but parents who know Scott can talk with their children and call police, if needed, at 704-866-6702.
