No injuries in Caldwell residential fire

HUDSON – No injuries were reported when fire heavily damaged a Caldwell County residence early Wednesday afternoon, authorities say.

The fire was reported shortly after noon at a home in the 2900 block of Pioneer Trail, near Hudson. Officials with the Sawmills Fire Department say damage was estimated at $40,000 to $50,000.

Caldwell County fire investigators say the blaze started in the bedroom and was caused by smoking materials left on the bed.

The home is owned by a West Virginia man. Two family members were living there.
