I-485 lane closure postponed 1 week

The N.C. Department of Transportation says the contractor has postponed a planned closure on one lane of Interstate 485 this weekend in southeast Mecklenburg County.

The lane closure has been postponed until June 19-22.

A lane on the inner loop of I-485 had been scheduled for closure Friday evening until Monday morning. The closure will be near the McKee Road overpass (mile marker 54), a short distance before the Providence Road interchange.

DOT officials say a pipe has separated under the right shoulder of McKee Road. Crews will be required to do considerable digging, so the right lane of I-485 will be closed under the bridge to keep motorists and workers safe.
