Newton man convicted of five meth-related felonies

A 32-year-old Newton man has been convicted of five methamphetamine-related felonies, according to Catawba County District Attorney James Gaither.

Franklin William Chamberlin, 32, was convicted of 2 counts of felony possess and distribute methamphetamine precursor, felony manufacture of methamphetamine, felony conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine and felony attempted trafficking in methamphetamine by manufacturing and felony attempted trafficking in methamphetamine by possession in Catawba County Criminal Superior

Chamberlain was sentenced to no less than 50 months and no more than 72 months in the North Carolina Division of Adult Correction.

Authorities say the crimes occurred in November 2012 in Catawba County and the investigation arose from a complaint from a concerned resident
