CPCC names building for Worrell

CPCC officials say they have named a newly renovated and expanded building on their Central Campus for the family of James Worrell Sr., retired managing partner of Northwestern Mutual and a longtime college supporter.

Worrell, a Charlotte civic leader and philanthropist, served on the CPCC Foundation board and the foundation’s “Legacy and Promise” steering committee.

The building, which covers 70,417 square feet, is on Elizabeth Avenue. It houses a gymnasium, a fitness center, 17 classrooms, and seven offices for faculty and staff. CPCC says it also is creating the James R. Worrell Sr. Financial Services Institute at the Harris Conference Center, on the west-side Harris Campus.
