Morganton to try again for fireworks Friday

MORGANTON – Morganton’s storm-struck Independence Day fireworks display has been rescheduled once again, for Friday night.

City officials say they hope the weather cooperates this time, and they’ll shoot off the fireworks about 9:30 p.m. at Catawba Meadows Park. A festival will precede the show at 6:30 p.m.

Residents can park at Catawba Meadows or walk there via the greenway.

The initial date was July 4, but that was postponed by heavy rain. Two subsequent rescheduled dates were affected by bad weather, once by flooding and another time by a severe thunderstorm.
