The memorial service for former Panthers executive Jon Richardson, the son of Panthers owner Jerry Richardson, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Forest Hill Church in Charlotte, with the Rev. David Chadwick officiating.
A private burial will follow.
Richardson died Tuesday following a long battle with cancer. He was 53.
Richardson was the stadium operations director from the team's inception until 2009, when he and his brother Mark, the team president, resigned unexpectedly. Jon Richardson oversaw the construction of what is now known as Bank of America Stadium and several stadium improvement projects.
Panthers players and officials remembered him Tuesday as a humble man who was content to stay behind the scenes in the organization. He was a three-year letterman and two-year starter at wide receiver at North Carolina, leading the Tar Heels in receptions in 1981.
He had a tryout in 1982 with the Baltimore Colts, his fathers former team.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to A Better World, Inc., 4527 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208, or Fork Union Military Academy, 4744 James Madison Highway, Fork Union, VA 23055.
