Matthews planning staff recently met with an architect and a representative of retirement-community developer ACTS to discuss the future Village at Plantation Estates. The retirement community, an expansion of Plantation Estates, will be built across the road from the existing Plantation Estates on 45 acres at the intersection of Fullwood Lane and South Trade Street. When complete, the project will house about 220 units, consisting of duplex homes and small apartment buildings. As a condition of project approval, ACTS also will connect Talbot Court to Fullwood Lane to provide another access into the Hampton Green neighborhood. Bob Romano of Bluewater Design-Build, the architectural and construction company working on the project, says the firm is seeking permits from a number of agencies while ACTS is preparing to market the property.Developers hope to break ground in mid-2014 and open Phase 1 in mid-2015, but those dates will depend on how many units are sold in advance. ACTS plans to begin marketing the site in fall, subject to getting all the licenses and approval necessary for expansion. For more information about the Village at Plantation Estates, call Plantation Estates at 704-845-5900 and ask to speak to a Life Care Consultant.
