The center inbound and outbound lanes of Providence Road are closed due the to sinking at 1057 Providence Road, said Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utility District spokesperson Karen Whichard.

N.C. Department of Transportation has maintenance crews at the intersection of Providence Road and Queens Road to assess the problem, but a timeframe for repairs has not been determined.
