A panel of three judges will determine the winners of cash prizes for first, second and third places.To perform at the event, you must submit an application and audition tape by 5 p.m. Aug. 1. Applicants must be amateurs and live in Mecklenburg or a nearby county. A committee will review preliminary applications and video auditions and will notify finalists by Aug. 9. The free event will be Aug. 24 at the Bailey Road Park band shell. Young musicians should be able to perform moderately-easy to concert-level music. Rehearsals will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays at Bailey Road Recreation Center, beginning Aug. 20.Program fees include all music and materials, music instruction, concerts and receptions.
