More Information

The Red Cross assisted nine families whose east Charlotte apartments were flooded during Sunday night’s storm.

Nine units were damaged on Cedars East Court, which is near the intersection of Idlewild Road and Independence Boulevard, Jennifer Franklin, spokeswoman for the Red Cross said.

The floods temporarily displaced 17 adults and 13 children around 9 p.m., although they were able to stay in their homes overnight.

Franklin said the Red Cross performed a damage assessment Sunday night but will return Monday to check in with the families.
