MOORESVILLE Twin toddlers were flown to a Charlotte hospital after falling from a second-story window into a bush Monday morning.

The 2-year-old children were standing on a bed in an upstairs room, pushing on a window, when the lock gave way, Maj. Darren Campbell with the Iredell Sheriff’s Office told WCNC-TV, the Observer’s news partner.

The children tumbled out and landed in a bush.

Authorities in Iredell County haven’t released the names of the children or given information about their condition, though a woman who lives nearby said neighbors had been told the children would be OK.

Someone called 911 just after 10:30 a.m. Monday saying the twins had fallen out of a window of the home on Duval Court near Mooresville.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and the brother and sister were flown to Carolinas Medical Center, said dispatcher Shannon Goodman.

“We have notified the Sheriff’s Office of the incident but have no further information on how they will proceed,” the female dispatcher said.

No one had been charged late Monday in connection with the fall.

No one answered the door at the home near Mooresville – a two-story white house with an expansive yard and garden. A broken flower pot and a television remote control lay on the front porch.
