Lane closure tonight could catch end of I-485 rush hour

In a move that will warm the hearts of south Mecklenburg commuters, the state highway department will close a lane of I-485 Monday night for some repair work.

Starting at 7 p.m., crews will block off the left lane of the outerbelt near Johnston Road (Exit 61) to reset some barrier walls. The lane is scheduled to reopen at 11 p.m.

In case of stormy column, the repairs could take longer or be postponed.
