Charlotte foreclosure rate dips in May

Charotte-area home foreclosures declined in May from a year ago, falling below the national rate, according to a report released Tuesday by CoreLogic.

In the region, 2.2 percent of home loans were in some stage of the foreclosure process, down from 3.3 percent in May 2012, the Irvine, Calif.-based company said.

Nationwide, the foreclosure rate was 2.6 percent in May.

The percentage of Charlotte-area loans 90 days or more delinquent also declined from a year ago. In May, the rate fell to 5.3 percent from 6.8 percent.
