“Running a Darn Good Meeting”
The N.C. Chapter of Community Associations Institute will host this meeting 5-7 p.m. Aug. 20 at The Employers Association, 3020 W. Arrowood Road.
Attorney and author Jim Slaughter will discuss how to use parliamentary procedure and “Robert’s Rules of Order” to run board or membership meetings efficiently and legally.
Slaughter will also cover which rules to use and when; advice on frequently used motions; voting, breaking ties and absentee votes; proxy votes; budget ratification; setting and sticking to an agenda; effectively recording minutes and tips on handling disruptive members.
Program attendees will also receive a copy of Slaughter’s book “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Parliamentary Procedure Fast-Track.”
Registration and book signing begins at 5 p.m. and the program at 5:30 p.m.
Cost is $25 for CAI members and $35 for non-members. All are welcome but registration is required by Aug. 18. Details: www.cai-nc.org.
