Statistically speaking: Cybercrimes take a toll on business

Cybercrimes are taking a multibillion-dollar toll on the U.S. economy, according to a July 2013 report from the Center for Strategic and International Studies and cybersecurity giant McAfee. But companies may not realize this financial impact, and consider it a normal part of doing business. Other findings in the report:

$100 billion estimated annual loss to the U.S. economy due to cybercrimes.

508,000 estimated number of U.S. jobs lost due to malicious cyber activity.

$400 billion a high-end estimate for global losses due to cybercrimes.
