Northeast Middle fire investigated

Investigators are looking into what caused a fire that caused apparently minor damage early Thursday at a middle school near the Charlotte-Mint Hill line.

The fire was reported about 12:15 a.m. at Northeast Middle School, on Brickstone Road. That is off Lawyers Road, and Northeast’s property backs up to Independence High School.

Authorities gave few details Thursday morning, saying the fire was minor. WBTV reported that the blaze was confined to the lobby entrance area.
