2 Charlotte students named year’s top volunteers

Mallory Finch and Lesley Salvucci were named Assistance League of Charlotte's Teen Volunteers of the Year for their commitment to the Mecklenburg County Teen Court program, an alternative justice system for youth offenders ages 10-15.

Mallory joined Teen Court three years ago. She served as a juror first, as all participants do, before receiving further training as an attorney. Her compassion helped turn a difficult situation into a learning experience for offenders and their families. She effectively mentored newly trained attorneys.

Lesley, who has been with Teen Court for five years, has been most dependable as a teen attorney, and regularly fills either defense or prosecuting roles. She promotes Teen Court at school and with friends.
