A 49-year-old woman was shot and killed in her west Charlotte home Friday morning.
Patrol officers with CMPD’s Westover Division received a call shortly before 9 a.m. that someone had been shot. When officers arrived at the home in the 2800 block of Fordwood Drive – off West Boulevard near Charlotte Douglas International Airport – they found Sacore Raley Gray suffering from a gunshot wound.
She died at the scene at 9:05 a.m., police said. Detectives with the Homicide/Assault with a Deadly Weapon Unit searched the neighborhood for witnesses. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are looking for the suspect.
Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from the Vice and Gang Unit and the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s homicide prosecution team also responded.
Anyone with information about the killing is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit detective.
