Car hits house in NE Charlotte, 1 hurt

A driver was seriously injured late Thursday morning when his SUV crashed into a house in northeast Charlotte, authorities say.

The vehicle slammed into a single-story residence on Robinson Church Road, near the East W.T. Harris Boulevard intersection. The collision took place along a curve in the road.

Firefighters had to free the driver from the vehicle, which slammed into the front of the house. Kristin Young, a spokeswoman for Medic, said the victim was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

One person was inside the house at the time, but he was not hurt.
