Uncle Milf’s (Man I Love Food) Lake Norman Tavern, 1468 Brawley School Road, Mooresville, expanded its menu recently with the addition of breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays.With the recent closing of the Brawley School Road location of the Daily Grind restaurant, “there was no breakfast on Brawley,” Lake Norman Tavern owner Jim Petrosky said. The Daily Grind continues to operate its other location on North Main Street in downtown Mooresville.“With the Daily Grind gone, I sat down with my manager, Marge Wolf, and decided that breakfast on Brawley had to continue,” Petrosky said. Through word of mouth, 65 patrons showed up the first day he served breakfast recently, Petrosky said. Uncle Milf’s Lake Norman Tavern celebrated its eighth anniversary on July 19. Its new breakfast menu includes omelets, eggs any way, Belgian waffles, French toast, stuffed French toast, a banana berry split (made with bananas, four types of fresh berries, low-fat yogurt, crunchy granola and drizzled with honey), a fresh fruit plate, oatmeal, liver mush, biscuits-and-gravy, hash browns and home fries,.Breakfast hours are 8 a.m.-noon Saturdays and Sundays; 704-799-1214.Port City Club updateThe restaurant in the former Midtown Sundries-Harborside, on Lake Norman in Cornelius, has no opening date to announce but updated local media Aug. 13 as to its progress renovating the facility.All indoor chairs have arrived and indoor tables were expected to arrive mid-last week. The lower-level banquettes have arrived and are being installed. The dramatic 22-foot curtain accents on the poles are hung and hemmed, and docks and walkways are starting to be repaired. Floats have been ordered. The restaurant awaits upper-level banquettes, porch and outside tables and chairs, lights and ceiling fans. The kitchen and bar equipment continue to be tested and repaired. “Once all the furniture is in and installed, our full attention will turn to the kitchen, menus and getting ready to train the staff,” spokeswoman Jan Black said in an email.LongHorn partner honoredMichele Lizzio, managing partner of the LongHorn Steakhouse in Huntersville, recently received Darden Restaurants’ top honor – the Joe R.
