Reported “fumes” sends five to area hospitals

Nearly 40 people were evaluated by Medic and five were taken to area hospitals after fumes were reported in a building in West Charlotte.

Multiple Medic units; Charlotte Fire Department and Hazardous Materials personnel responded to 8300 Forest Point Boulevard Friday evening.

Fire officials reported a limited evacuation of the building and three people were taken to Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center; two to Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville. All injuries were described as non-life threatening.

Officials say the there were exhaust fumes from a faulty HVAC motor.
