More Information

A 23-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries and another man was charged with driving while impaired after a head-on collision Saturday in northeast Charlotte.

The collision occurred at 6:19 p.m. in the 6300 block of Old Concord Road. Police say Victor Manuel Ramirez, 46, was driving a 2011 Ford F-250 truck and traveling east on the road when he passed a vehicle traveling in the same direction on a double yellow line.

Police say Ramirez struck the westbound 1999 Nissan driven by Nicholas Raymond Vrscak.

Both were taken to Carolinas Medical Center, Vrscak with serious injuries and Ramirez with minor ones.

Authorities say alcohol was a contributing factor. Ramirez was charged with DWI, felony serious injury by vehicle and improper passing.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective R.C. Gormican at 704-432-2169.
