Pedestrian struck in northwest Charlotte

A 7-year-old was was struck by a car Sunday afternoon and was taken to the hospital with broken bones.

The incident occurred in the 800 block of Swearngan Ridge Court in northwest Charlotte, according to Katie Rutland, a spokesman for Medic, the county’s paramedic service.

The person struck has “injuries our paramedics describe as life threatening” and was taken to Carolinas Medical Center.

According to Observer news partner NBC Charlotte, the injured person was a 7-year-old child. The child went to the hospital with broken bones and bruises.
