Magnolia St., Mooresville. Parents of Mooresville High students must attend a mandatory training 5:30-7 p.m. Aug. 22 in the Mooresville High auditorium. Laptops will be distributed to high school students on the first day of school. Parents who have children in both high school and fourth through eighth grades must attend one of the deployment sessions with their fourth- through eighth-grader, but they are not required to attend the training for grades 9-12. These parents can complete paperwork and pay the insurance fee at one location for all their children.Rocky River Elementary Open house: 3-5 p.m. Aug. 22.Iredell-Statesville Schools iACADEMY: Starting this fall, Iredell-Statesville Schools will offer the iACADEMY online study program for high school students. Through iACADEMY, students can choose to complete a high-school diploma completely online, or take online courses only to supplement traditional classes. iACADEMY has a staff of licensed teachers and a guidance counselor on the campus of the Career Academy and Technical School, 350 Old Murdock Road, Troutman. Office hours are offered for student support. With iACADEMY, students who are not enrolled in Iredell-Statesville Schools, including home-schooled students, must enroll in at least two courses per academic semester. To be eligible for athletics, students must enroll in at least three courses per semester. Previously principal at Northview School, Ivey replaces Aaron Gabriel, who resigned to take a position as assistant superintendent in Newton-Conover City Schools. Ivey earned a master’s degree in educational administration from Grand Canyon University and has worked in public education for more than 18 years. Career Academy and Technical School Open houses: Automotive Technology and Firefighting, 6-8 p.m. Aug. 29. Nursing Fundamentals, ProStart, Digital Film Production, Television News Production and Photography, 6:30-8 p.m. Sept. 9.Langtree Charter Academy Open house: Kindergarten-third grade, 12:30-2:30 p.m.; fourth through sixth grades, 3-5 p.m.; both on Aug. 22.
