Stallings town councilman Harry Stokes died Sunday morning, according to a statement from the town.

The longtime Union County resident, who was a councilman for nearly four years, died at 8 a.m. He was 54.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Harry. The town is a better place because of his contribution to this community,” town clerk Erinn Nichols said in the statement. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family during this difficult time.”
