Thieves hit 17 vehicles in Mint Hill

Mint Hill police say thieves broke into 17 vehicles late Monday night and early Tuesday in parts of the city.

The thefts were reported in neighborhoods along Margaret Wallace and Bartlett roads, and in the Oxfordshire neighborhood, according to police Lt. John Rowell. All but one of the victims’ vehicles was unlocked. The lone locked vehicle had a purse in plain view, Rowell said.

Mint Hill p[police are asking the public to lock car doors and remove all valuable and personal items from their vehicles at night. Residents also can turn on flood lights during the overnight hours to help deter the break-ins.

Anyone with information in these cases is asked to call police at 704-545-1085.
