For more information, to see a list of fall classes or to register, go to Cornelius.org and search for “Cornelius Arts Center.”Town Board updates• The board approved rezoning to build a Harris Teeter grocery store in the Antiquity development, across from where east Catawba Avenue intersects with N.C. 115.• A new state law requires a complete redo of the contested 2011 property valuation. A new county tax assessor should be appointed in the next two weeks to start the re-evaluation process.• The N.C. Department of Transpotation confirmed that the contract for the “diverging diamond” interchange at Interstate 77 Exit 28 will be awarded Sept. 17, and construction is expected to start in late October or early November. Since construction is supposed to happen at night, NCDOT estimates the project will take 24 months. The town board is reviewing whether a shorter, but maybe more disruptive, construction period would be more acceptable.• Patching is complete for West Catawba Avenue, and resurfacing should start within two weeks. Construction of the right-turn lane from West Catawba onto Westmoreland will begin around Labor Day.• At Robbins Park, construction on Phase II should start in the next few months. Also, the State Department of Natural Resources is donating two piers and stocking the ponds with fish.
