Mecklenburg County detention officer accused of having child porn

A Mecklenburg County detention officer has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Clinton Williams Jr., 32, was arrested Thursday after Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers with the Freedom Division searched his home.

Williams has worked for the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office about nine years, according to police.

CMPD’s Cyber Crimes and Youth Crimes units received a lead in their joint investigation from the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office. While searching Williams’ home, detectives found digital evidence of child pornography, police said.

Williams was charged with four counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office is cooperating with the investigation.

Police say Williams is the second man the Youth Crimes and Cyber Crimes units have arrested in the past two weeks in connection with child exploitation.

Gregoro Gonzolas, 35, was arrested Aug. 15 and charged with three counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, after detectives said they located child pornography on his computer.
