There are a number of traffic problems across the Charlotte region at 8:45 a.m. this Monday morning.
The biggest continues to be on Eastway Drive, which is closed between Central Avenue and Kilborne Drive. Police say an overnight wreck knocked down power lines in the area, and repairs aren’t expected to be completed until after the morning commute.
Another slow spot is southbound Interstate 85 in Cabarrus County. A wreck was reported near Poplar Tent Road, and traffic is snarled for about 5 miles.
Of course, with the first day of school, there are a number of slowdowns.
Here is the 8:45 a.m. update:
I-85 southbound, Cabarrus County ... Heavy congestion from mile marker 61 to near Poplar Tent Road (mile marker 52), due to a wreck; traffic moving 5-15 mph.
Idlewild Road, Mint Hill ... Heavy congestion between Margaret Wallace Road and Rice Road, near Queens Grant High School and Mint Hill Middle School.
I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion; traffic moving 25 to 35 mph from Providence Road to I-77.
I-485 outer loop, northeast Mecklenburg ... Congestion; traffic moving 20 to 30 mph from University City Boulevard to I-85.
I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... Congestion; traffic moving 20 to 30 mph from Carowinds Boulevard up to Remount Road.
Harris Boulevard at Delta Crossing Lane ... Wreck reported about 8:40 a.m. near Delta Crossing Lane; moderate delays.
Randolph Road, near Caswell Road ... Collision about 8:30 a.m.; minor delays
