Development first came to Lake Norman in the way of humble weekend cottages and campsites along with a smattering of convenience stores. Today, the area is noted for its multi-million dollar lakefront mansions, bustling marinas, state-of-the-art speedboats, and a population that continues to thrive thanks to a bounty of modern conveniences and attractions. While the area may be unrecognizable compared to 50 years ago, it remains a special place to the generations that grew up here as well as the newcomers who now call Lake Norman home.
