Primrose Schools – Lake Wylie

Scholarship winners: Sara Hancock’s family has won a one year scholarship to Primrose Schools after winning the School’s National Facebook Scholarship Sweepstakes. Families attending Primrose Schools National Open House events at the schools across the U.S. in July entered the sweepstakes for the random drawing.

Providence High

BBQ fundraiser: The annual BBQ fundraiser will be held Oct. 4 prior to the homecoming game. Proceeds will benefit the athletic program. Tickets will be available at www.cmsathleticzone.com/page/show/853905-providence-booster-club. For information, email Stu Jelenick at Hockeyman44@earthlink.net.

Band fundraiser: Band students are selling Butter Braid Pastries through Sept. 26. Orders may be placed with any band member.

School supply drive: Through Sept. 6, the school will collect supplies for students in need. Collection bins will be in the main office.

Parenting course: The school is offering a free Parenting with Love and Logic course, to be held on campus from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays in September. Space is limited. Register at: www.teenhealthconnection.org/index.php/services/programs/love-logic

Charlotte Latin

Artwork winners: Artwork by students Ann Bernhardt and Lauren McDowell will be on display in Washington in the ART.WRITE.NOW.DC exhibit. Their work was selected by the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities and the U.S. Dept. of Education as exemplary. The artwork was selected from national Scholastic award winners for the national exhibit.

Poetry winner: Poetry by junior Rachel Hargrave has been selected for ART.WRITE.NOW.DC, an exhibition of National Award-winning work from the 2013 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Five of Rachel’s poems will also be included in “The Best Teen Writing 2013,” a student anthology distributed to educators and students throughout the U.S.

South Meck

School supply drive: Through Sept. 6, the school is collecting school supplies for students in need. Collection bins are in the main office.

Booster memberships: Membership passes are still available and allow entrance to all “regular” season home games for all sports. $175 for family, $75 for individuals. For details, email micheleharmon@carolina.rr.com or sellerspc@aol.com.
