More charges could be pending for the five people the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has charged with possession of stolen property.
The arrests were made in connection with the break-in of four tractor trailers in Vale, N.C. on Aug. 23, officials say. The trucks were loaded with soft drinks, bakery products and Bosch products.
Cody Thomas, 17, of Vale, has been charged with breaking into a motor vehicle, larceny, possession of stolen goods and injury to personal property.
Betsy Carpenter, 29, of Vale, has been charged with receiving stolen goods, obtaining property by false pretenses and possession of stolen goods.
Debra Moores, 34, and Mickey Mellon, 46, of Lawndale, were each charged with receiving stolen goods and possession of stolen property.
James Fredell, 35, of Vale, has been charged with possession of stolen goods.
The investigation is ongoing and officials said they expect to recover more of the stolen goods and petitions may be drawn on two juveniles in the case. More charges are possible, they say.
