A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officer sustained minor injuries Saturday morning when a suspect in a domestic violence case ran over the officer’s foot while fleeing the scene, officials said.
The officer was treated for minor injuries and released from an area hospital, officials said. Names are not being released because the incident is part of an ongoing investigation, officials said.
Police said the incident began when officers were called to the 1800 block of Oakdale Road shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday to investigate a domestic violence call. A caller stated that her daughters were fighting and requested Medic for one who had been injured, officials said.
The first officer on scene located the suspect and ordered her out of the vehicle. However, as the officer attempted an arrest, she drove off and ran over the officer’s foot, officials said.
The suspect is currently being sought as part of an assault with a deadly weapon investigation, officials said. Mark Price
