FAYETTEVILLE – Police in Fayetteville are looking for three men wanted in connection with the robbery, abduction and shooting death of a Richmond County man early Sunday.
Police say they think the same men involved in the crimes returned to site of the abduction later in the day, robbed a convenience store customer, and then stole the surveillance equipment. But Fayetteville police say they already had distributed video surveillance photos to the media from the morning crimes.
According to police, 27-year-old Errol Williams of Rockingham was robbed and abducted about 4:45 a.m. outside the Kangaroo Express convenience store on Bragg Boulevard. Investigators say the three men responsible for the crime then forced Williams to drive them away.
A short time later, on Shaw Road at Holland Street, police say Williams tried to jump from the car and run, but he was shot dead by one of the attackers.
Police say three men, suspected to be the same group involved in the morning attack, returned to the store about 3 p.m. Sunday, robbed a customer, and then stole the store’s surveillance equipment.
Investigators have not said if Williams knew his attackers. Police ask that anyone with information in the case contact detectives at 910-988-6543, or leave information with Crime Stoppers, at 910-483-8477.
